Kids don't come with an owner's manual.
We daddys kind of figure things out on the fly--like building a plane in flight. But there are some things we can probably all agree on. It's our role, and the way we father our kids either leads them to greatness, or down the drain, or somewhere in between.
And we'll always be fathers, but we'll only have this golden opportunity to raise our children as daddys for a season: tucking them in, teaching them lessons and values, and managing discipline.
Even though we enforce rules to reflect our values, our values are not as simple as rules--and it can be important to realize that sometimes, the character traits that will make our children successful adults might be the same traits that make them difficult children.
